Hnat Khotkevych Palace of Culture was built in 1934 and is a vivid example of the architecture of functionalism in Lviv. As it is known, Tadeusz Wróbel and Leopold Karasiński won the project contest. T. Wróbel, at one time, was the Dean of the Department of Urban Planning and Design of Lviv Polytechnic and co-founder of the Wroclaw Polytechnic.
Today, the staff of the Palace of Culture is actively developing a strategy and vision. According to new qualitative changes in the structure of the institution activity, the transformations of the functional space of the building are really vital. So, on October 22–26, 2018, there is a 5-day architecture and space workshop. The organizers offer the participants, together with mentors and prominent architects, to develop a conceptual project of re-designing the functional premises of the Palace.
The purpose of the workshop is to generate visual ideas aimed at preserving the entire historical interior of the Palace in conjunction with the modernization of functional spaces in accordance with the new strategy and vision.
Students of Lviv and Wroclaw Polytechnics, as well as interested architects, designers, sociologists and other motivated and interested people, are invited to participate in the workshop.
Registration is required.
