On September 21–22, 2023, the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies, Lviv Polytechnic, held a round table «Sustainable practices and measures to prevent contamination of landfills with mercury-containing waste» as part of the Life Mercury-Free project. The purpose of the scientific meeting was to present the results of scientific research, discuss and share sustainable practices and solutions for reducing mercury pollution in urban ecosystems.
The Life Mercury-Free Complex Awareness Raising and Behavior Change for the Mercury-Free City Environment project is aimed at reducing environmental pollution by mercury, contained in household consumer goods that are mistreated by consumers.
The event took place in a hybrid format and brought together more than 50 participants from Ukraine and the countries of the European Union.
It should be noted that this project is one of the first to receive funding from the EU Life program and is dedicated to the exchange of information and behavior changes in the area of mercury pollution caused by household activities and, especially, due to improper use, storage and disposal of mercury-containing products.
