On 7 October 2024, within the framework of the European Studies for Technical Students of Lviv Polytechnic National University (EUSTS) project, a public lecture was held by the Head of the National Contact Point of the European Institute of Technology and Innovation (HORIZON EUROPE programme), DSc (Econ), Professor of the Department of Mathematical Modelling and Data Analysis of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Vitalina Babenko, on the topic: «European Institute of Innovation and Technology: Digital Opportunities for Youth».
The speaker revealed the peculiarities of the activities of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, which operates with the support of the HORIZON EUROPE programme, in particular: its key areas (climate change; culture and creativity; water; sustainable energy; health; digitalisation, etc. ); EIT Digital primary programmes for young people; support for innovations and start-ups; career opportunities for Ukrainian youth; open competitions in five main areas – Digital Technologies, Digital Industry, Digital Cities, Digital Welfare and Digital Finance; EIT initiatives for higher education institutions in the areas of «Development of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Capacity in Higher Education Institutions» and «Innovation and Entrepreneurship Capacity in Higher Education Institutions for Improving Deep Tech»; EIT Master's programmes for students and teachers, etc.
Vitalina Babenko thoroughly familiarised the audience with the EIT website and current competition proposals, which aroused great interest among the participants. At the end of the lecture, a small but informative discussion took place on the requirements for participation in EIT competitions, as well as mechanisms to stimulate the involvement of Ukrainian youth, teachers, and universities in such innovative programmes.
In total, the event was attended by over 130 participants – undergraduate students, postgraduate students, teachers and members of the Scientific Society of Undergraduate Students, Postgraduate Students, Doctoral Students and Young Scientists of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences. The project team sincerely thanks all the participants of the event and continues to work on preparing other equally interesting activities on the current topics of Ukraine's European integration and cooperation with the European Union. Karazin Kharkiv National University, who, despite the extremely difficult security situation, accepted the invitation from the NULP and demonstrated an extremely high professional level.
