Scientific activities of the Department of Management of Organizations

The Department has formed powerful scientific schools that have gained general recognition in Ukraine, and ensures the continuity of scientific traditions by training highly qualified personnel in doctoral and postgraduate studies. During the existence of the Department, its employees have defended 12 doctoral theses (M. I. Shrag, O. P. Sidorov, I. O. Cherevko, Ya. D. Plotkin, Y. M. Petrovych, V. Ya. Gumenyuk, O. E. Kuzmin, G. M. Zakharchyn, A. A. Terebukh, I. I. Novakivsky, N. M. Lesyak, L. S. Lisovska) and more than 120 candidate theses, which indicates a high level of scientific culture and the ability of the Department to form new generations of researchers.

Scientific research of the Department has consistently developed in accordance with the transformations of the socio-economic environment. At different periods, the main attention was paid to the problems of formation, use and reproduction of the production potential of enterprises, the introduction of innovative management tools, the development of adaptive mechanisms for the functioning of enterprises in the conditions of market changes and globalization challenges. This direction contributed to the establishment of the department as one of the leading research centers in the field of enterprise economics and management.

An important component of scientific activity was the implementation of state research topics, carried out by order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, including: DB "VENTURE" (2003–2004) - "Improvement of management of innovation and investment processes at enterprises of Ukraine", No. 0103U001337; DB "POTENCIAL" (2005–2007) - "Formation of innovative potential of organization management in modern conditions", No. 0105U000604 (with the leading participation of Prof. Y. Petrovych); DB "LANTS" (2010–2012) - "Management of innovation processes of enterprises in value chains", No. 0110U001094; DB "Transfer" (2019–2021) - "Assessment of the cost and readiness of technologies for transfer from universities to the business environment", No. 0119U002251 (head - Prof. N. Chukhray).

During 2000–2025, the department systematically developed scientific research on innovative aspects of ensuring balanced development of enterprises based on the use of endogenous factors. This approach made it possible to combine theoretical developments with practical mechanisms of economic growth and increasing competitiveness.

The modern scientific focus of the department is due to military challenges and the need to restore the economy of Ukraine. In 2024, a new DB for young scientists began on the topic: “Economics of land degradation due to war and their post-war restoration: innovative practices of sustainable management of agricultural nature use” (№ 0124U000518, 2024–2026, head – Doctor of Economics, Senior Researcher, Professor of the Department A. Kucher).

The purpose of the work is to form the scientific foundations of the economics of military land degradation and develop a concept of sustainable management of agricultural nature use to ensure the food and environmental security of the state. The results of the study are interdisciplinary in nature and are focused on various groups of stakeholders: state authorities and local governments, agricultural enterprises, investors, the scientific community, higher education institutions and educational seekers. This confirms the applied nature of the work and its significance for the formation of a policy of post-war restoration and sustainable development.

The department acts as an active center of scientific communication and formation of academic networks of cooperation. During 2006–2024, in partnership with leading domestic and foreign scientific institutions, the department organizes the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Management of Innovation Processes in Ukraine”, which has gained wide recognition in the academic community. The conference has become an authoritative platform for discussing current problems of innovative development, digital transformation and competitiveness, annually attracting hundreds of scientists from different countries of the world. Thanks to the stable tradition of holding this scientific forum, the department ensures the integration of Ukrainian science into the international research space, as well as the popularization of the results of domestic research in the field of innovation management.

A separate area of activity of the department is the support of youth science and interdisciplinary research. In particular, the department co-organized the following scientific events that brought together young researchers in the humanitarian and economic fields, contributed to the development of their scientific potential and academic mobility:

  • International Scientific and Practical Conference "Challenges for the Tourism Business in Ukraine: European Practice" May 4-5, 2023

At the present stage, employees, graduate students, doctoral students and applicants of the Department of Management of Organizations conduct scientific research in the following scientific areas:

  • "Digitalization of Business Processes of Tourism Industry Entities" (MO-13). Topic Leader: Ihor Kulyniak.
  • "Formation of a Policy of Resilience of Socio-Economic Processes in the Management of Enterprises, Regions, and the State" (MO-14) Topic Leader: Ulyana Ivaniuk.

The results of the department's scientific research are widely reflected in monographs, articles in professional and international journals, conference proceedings, which indicates a high level of academic productivity of scientific and pedagogical workers. At the same time, the department's activities have a pronounced applied nature, since the results of research are systematically implemented in the practice of management, innovation management, strategic planning and regional development.

Based on scientific developments, the department regularly receives requests from representatives of the business environment, local governments and territorial communities, which leads to the conclusion of contracts for the implementation of scientific and research and consulting work. This indicates a high degree of trust in the department as an expert center.

  • "Development of organizational and economic measures for the promotion of services on the market based on the use of innovative technologies" (No. 446-2025, head - Boyko V., implementation period: 15.05.2025 - 04.06.2025).
  • “Methods of forecasting the development of market segments for small and medium-sized businesses taking into account trends in socio-economic development and technological transformations” (project No. 374-2024, head – Novakivskyi I., 11/20/2024 – 12/20/2024).
  • “Diagnostics of the prerequisites for the socio-economic development of the Lanniv territorial community” (project No. 206-2023, head – Karyy O., 11/10/2023 – 12/25/2023).

Thus, the department not only generates new scientific knowledge, but also actively transforms it into applied management solutions that affect the development of enterprises, territorial communities and the regional economy. This confirms its role as an expert center capable of combining academic science with practice and public policy.

The scientists of the department actively implement international scientific projects that contribute to the development of innovative research and strengthening international cooperation. In 2023–2025, the department, represented by Professor Nataliya Chukhray, is the coordinator of the project HORIZON-CL2-2022-HERITAGE-01-07 (AURORA), Project ID: 101094245, "Artwork Unique RecognitiOn and tRacking through chemicAl encoded data, miniaturized devices and blockchain alliance", aimed at creating innovative methods for identifying and tracking unique works of art using chemically encoded data, miniaturized devices and blockchain technology.
